PoGo Press ReleasesC. Scott Greene Honored with Boys & Girls Clubs of America's National Medallion AwardATLANTA, Ga., November 21, 2008 – C. Scott Greene, Powell Goldstein partner and litigation service team co-leader, received the Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s (“BGCA”) National Medallion Award during the Youth of the Year Award ceremony this month. The National Medallion Award is the highest honor a BGCA board member can receive. The award is presented annually to the board member who continuously demonstrates exceptional service and dedication to BGCA.
Scott has served as a Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta (“BGCMA”) board member since 1996. During his tenure he has been an active member of the Program Committee, has chaired the Resource Development Committee and is currently the Board Chair of the Executive Committee. Additionally, Scott is a member of the BGCA’s Georgia Area Council and was the recipient of the High Performance Board Award in 2007.
“It was a great day for kids of the Boys & Girls Clubs when Scott contacted me to offer to serve,” said Jerry Tipton, president of BGCMA. “He has not only been a great Chairman to serve with, but his devotion has involved him in every aspect of the organization including volunteering in the clubs.”
Scott has played an integral role in furthering the development of, and awareness surrounding, BGCMA, both regionally and nationally. His involvement has helped the organization raise millions of dollars in funding and was instrumental in launching the Conant Planned Giving Society earlier this year. Additionally, under Scott’s leadership BGCMA has expanded its reach by founding clubs in Madison, GA and Carrollton, GA and by launching the Clubs in Schools initiative.
Over the years, Scott’s advocacy and leadership has positively influenced growth for BGCMA both on the forefront, as a spokesperson informing local, state and national audiences of BGCMA’s mission, and in the background, as a board member highly involved in the oversight of the organization’s strategic plan, “Vision 2012.” It’s because of these reasons, and many others, that he was honored with this year’s National Medallion Award.
